About Us

We are a small breeder located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. We have been breeding the three most popular species of Lovebirds, The Peachface, Fischer's and Masked Lovebirds since 2003. Our birds are all captive bred and mostly parent raised. We do occasionally have hand raised babies. All of our babies are closed banded with BFBS bands so their age is guaranteed.

Our babies are fed a balanced diet of seeds, pellets, fresh fruit and vegetables and lots of fresh dandelions when available.

We occasionally have older birds and both proven and unproven pairs.

Lovebirds are beautifully coloured miniature parrots which originate in Africa. The scientific name of this Genus (family) is Agapornis. There are nine different species of lovebird, but the most commercially available and therefore the most affordable and popular species are the Peachface A. roseicollis, Fischer A. Fischeri and Masked A. personatus.

Their life expectancy is 15 - 18 years if maintained on a healthy diet and sanitary living conditions.

Over the years, in order to achieve certain colour varieties in a specific species, it has been necessary to interbreed some species. Hovever, this practice of interbreeding species, specifically the A. fischeri and A. personatus lovebird is now being done by unscrupulous and uninformed hobbiests who's only motivation is breeding larger numbers of birds for profit. This interbreeding has resulted in a mixing of the bloodlines. The resulting appearance of these birds has changed so that today captive bred birds exhibit a mixing of the yellow (personatus) and orange (fischeri) colours on the breast.

We pride ourselves on the fact that we avoid interbreeding species at all cost and select only the purest bloodlines available for our breeding stock. In fact it has become our mission to cross out the undesirable mixing of these bloodlines and produce the purest bloodlines possible. Unfortunately, it takes many years of selective breeding to correct the wrongs of the past.

The Gouldian Finch (Chloebia Gouldiae) is a native Australian Finch. It has experienced a significant decline in its numbers in the wild, so much so that it is now considered to be endangered and has been added to the Cities list of endangered species. Fortunately, the Gouldian is capive bred widely throughout the world.

We started breading the Gouldian Finch in 2012. Like with Lovebirds we think that the normal or ' Wild Type ' birds are the most stunning and thus focus our attention mainly on these birds. Thus, we are currently breeding the Red, Black, and Yellow headed variety of the Green Back Purple Breasted bird, but we plan to branch out into the Blue and Yellow Back varieties at a later date.
